Purpose: Strengthening Our Spaces
Furnishing Community Center, Expansion of On-Site Activities, Additional Gathering Spaces.
PGF focuses on reducing Veteran suicide by addressing one of its biggest risk factors: isolation. Our programs create opportunities for Veterans to build a community of support through approachable activities and shared experiences.
Research consistently shows that Veteran‑to‑Veteran connection, physical activity, time in nature, and agricultural engagement can positively influence mental health, resilience, and overall well‑being. This match opportunity will help us move forward on several key projects that will strengthen the spaces we currently have at the retreat.
Planned projects include:
- Enhancements to the Community Center: Creating a warm, functional gathering space with furnishings such as beds, couches, office essentials, tables, chairs, appliances, and more. Learn more about the Community Center project here.
- Agriculture & Hands‑On Purpose Projects: Developing agricultural areas on-site that may include a barn, chicken pen, livestock, fencing, feed, etc.
- Expanded On‑Site Activities: Increasing opportunities for movement, recreation, and camaraderie through additions like a basketball or pickleball court, children’s play areas, and completion of the pond near the retreat site to support accessible, peaceful fishing opportunities.
- Outdoor Gathering Spaces: Creating peaceful places for rest and connection—such as a Hammock Village nestled in the trees and a sunset‑view pavilion designed for reflection, conversation, and community moments.
These projects represent the key ways we hope to strengthen and expand the retreat experience for the Veterans we serve. They are potential initiatives, not guaranteed builds. The final project—or combination of projects—will be selected based on the total funds raised and the most pressing needs of the retreat at that time, ensuring every matched dollar creates the greatest possible impact.
