PGF Community Center

January 2026 Update: The Community Center Construction Project is currently underway. Sheet rock was recently completed.

Why a Community Center? Recent studies from the VA show there are 17 Veteran suicides every day. Project Gallantly Forward is committed to doing our part to reduce that number by building a community of Veteran support. The Community Center will be the heart of the Veterans retreat: a place where camaraderie, healing and shared purpose will come to life. Find out more about PGF’s mission to build a community of Veterans, current offerings and our vision for the retreat build by clicking the respective links.

REgistry

Details: The addition of a Community Center will serve multiple purposes:

  • Retreats with Programming: The center will create space for retreats, conferences, and workshops with programming, to include subjects such as PTS. Recent plans include seating capabilities of 80+ people.
  • Classes: The center will be a space for classes which encourage stress reduction, improved mental health and holistic coping skills for Veterans. Classes may include subjects such as martial arts, agriculture, yoga, meditation, peer support groups, Bible Study, etc. These will be available for both local Veterans and those staying at the retreat for R&R, cultivating deeper community and Veteran-to-Veteran support.
  • Needed Facilities: Additionally, this multi-purpose building will provide bathrooms for visiting Veterans who are not staying in the cabins. This is needed for local Veterans who come to events on-site, as well as Veterans camping at the retreat. The building will also include a laundry room, which is needed for cleaning cabins between R&R stays.
  • And More! Additional uses include an office for 1:1 meetings, a handicap-accessible bedroom for increased accessibility, outdoor patio space, etc.

How?

$100k for the Community Building was generously donated by the Wright Brothers Construction Company. The Wright Brothers donation paired with funds from our 2025 triple match campaign fully funded the building of the Community Center. However, this would not have been possible without the extreme generosity of Weathered Oak Construction, who are completing the project at a deeply discounted rate in support of the Veterans Retreat.
