Data shows time in nature\, to be healing for those struggling with PTSD. PGF is thrilled to host this tournament and provide Veterans the opportunity to connect with fishing professionals and other Veterans while enjoying the natural beauty of Chickamauga Lake. \n\n\n\n“Last year I was in a dark space in life and I reached out to Lucas Lewis the founder of PGF and he invited me out to a work day with other vets. That day was pretty special. Working with other vets was calming and just a great experience to be back with military family. I found a purpose in life again. Fishing has always brought calmness to me…Getting out on the water and nature is a natural calming. I spoke to Lucas Lewis\, Founder and President of PGF\, about having a fishing tournament for Veterans as an added program to PGF and he gave his blessings and Fishing with a Veteran Tournament was born.” – Gary\, Tournament Organizer \n\n\n\n\nRegister Now\n\nWhen: November 1\, 2025 \nLaunch: First safe light \nWeigh-In: 1530 \nLocation: Chester Frost Park Boat Ramp \nDetails: \n\nEach Veteran and boater team will have a 5 fish limit.\n\nBoater registration fee is $100.\nVeteran fishes for FREE!\nIf the boater is a Veteran\, the boater is still responsible for the registration fee.\n\n\nPrizes will be awarded for 1st\, 2nd and 3rd Place at weigh-in. SUMMARY:Intro to Drama Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Are You Interested in an Intro to Drama Therapy?\nAt Project Gallantly Forward\, we’re always exploring new\, low‑pressure ways to support Veterans’ well‑being—both at the retreat and through programs at the Community Center. One opportunity we’re offering is an introductory drama therapy session. \nWhen: Tuesday\, April 14 from 6-8p eastern time \nWhere: PGF Veterans Retreat – 81 Potts Rd Graysville\, TN 37338 \nInterested? Email us at christine@projectgallantlyforward.org and let us know you’ll be attending. We would love your feedback on whether this is a good fit for Veterans and the retreat. Veterans are welcome to bring their families as well. \nDetails: \nThe class will be led by Chyela Rowe from CommonSpirit\, Memorial Hospital \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat Is Drama Therapy?\nDrama therapy is a hands‑on\, experiential approach to mental and emotional well‑being. Instead of relying only on talk\, it uses storytelling\, role‑play\, movement\, and creative expression to help participants explore emotions\, process experiences\, and build connection in a safe\, guided environment. \nWith an empathetic invitation to “play” with ideas that may otherwise feel unplayable\, participants act “as-if” to create distance away from (or closer to) ideas and feelings; empowering participants to direct or re-story the memories or held beliefs that may contribute to feeling “stuck.” These embodied approaches can help veterans and military-connected families develop skills for emotional processing\, healthy attachment\, and peer support. \nWhat Might a Session Look Like?\nA sample 90‑minute intro session could include: \n\nWelcome & Agreements (10 min) Setting a safe\, confidential space.\nCheck‑In & Warm‑Up (15–30 min) Light creative tools—image cards\, journaling prompts\, or simple theater games—to ease in and build comfort.\nDrama Engagement (30–40 min) Guided activities based on the group’s needs\, such as role‑playing a shared story\, exploring themes with a short script\, or acting “as‑if” to try out new perspectives.\nActive Witnessing (15–20 min) Reflecting on what you noticed or felt\, whether you participated directly or observed.\nClosing Ritual (5 min) A simple way to “take in” what was helpful or “put away” anything that needs to stay within the group.\n\nWant to Join the Pilot Session?\nWe’re gathering interest to see whether drama therapy is something Veterans would find meaningful during retreat stays or as a local program. \nIf this sounds like something you’d like to try—or learn more about—email us at christine@projectgallantlyforward.org and let us know you’d like to attend.
